Gas works in park (5th Jan 2026 - end of March 2026)

Cadent (which operates the local gas network) will be carrying out £400,000 upgrade and relocation of essential gas network equipment, including replacing one of its ageing ‘governor’ units which is currently situated underground, near the junction of Parrs Wood Road and Fog Lane.

  • The new governor will be constructed in Fog Lane Park between 5 January 2026 and the end of March.

  • During this time, to ensure safety of park users, the footpath which runs from Parrs Wood Road, close to the junction with Fog Lane, will be closed. All other footpaths in the park will remain open.

  • At the same time, Cadent will dismantle and remove an old disused building which is nearby, beside the same footpath.

  • More details can be found at https://cadentgas.com/news-latest/december-2025/burnage-upgrade

Park wins ‘Gold’ award again!

In June 2025 judges from the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) came to look at Fog Lane Park for the RHS It’s Your Neighbour judging. This was the culmination of all the hard work of the park Gardening Group and other volunteers. In November we got the results of the judging and the park achieved a grade of Outstanding (equivalent to Gold award) in the RHS Britain in Bloom It’s Your Neighbourhood awards with a mark of 92 out of 100. This was fifth consecutive year of achieving an Outstanding award. If you want to know more about the park Gardening Group and volunteering in the park, then you can read more here.
