South Manchester Camera Club - Exhibition 1.
Below are photographs taken by members of the South Manchester Camera Club (SMCC). The photos were on display inside the park café, but we have also displayed them here so as many people as possible can enjoy these beautiful pictures of our park.
Each photograph has a few short sentence of commentary explaining something about the photo, maybe what is interesting or unusual about its composition or why the subject appealed to the photographer.
We aim to have photographs of the park from future SMCC exhibitions up on our website, so keep an eye out for them.
This photo above by Vanessa Lawson captures the essence of the park in early autumn as relaxing and accessible open space for all. A great place for letting go of the world and re-charging the batteries.
The captivating photograph above from Florence Talks shows fruit decaying and returning its richness back to the soil, a constant recycling of nature
The next photograph below from Sonia Dutton uses the technique of ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) to enhance the autumn colours on display in the park
In a chance glimpse of low light across the water at the ponds, Ceri Dornan captures a rare moment of calm in this photograph.
This photograph below from Ged’ Wilson, using new technology, shows us parts of the park from a alternate viewpoint and shows an almost unknown abstract view of a familiar part of the park.
Another photo below from Ged’ Wilson, also taken using a drone. This is an interesting and different image of the pond area, showing the beautiful autumnal colours on display
A second photograph below from Ceri Dornan in this exhibition shows that abstract or "intimate landscapes” can be found by looking closely and seeing differently. This a close view of one of the park benches.
The park has always been actively used by a number of sports clubs, as this photo below from Steve Eccles shows. SMCC formed an early relationship with the team of Dawn Court FC and followed them through a number of matches all the way through to the Cup Final.
Early spring provides a colourful display in the park, with various blossoms, snow drops and the crocus. The provide opportunities for photographers to get up close with these subjects, as this photo above from Hamish Beck shows.
