The History of Fog Lane Park
In 1926 a piece of marshy farmland was acquired by Manchester Corporation under the Town Planning Act. This was to become Fog Lane Park, and the rest, as they say, is history.
The land for Fog Lane Park was purchased in 1926. It is said that Fog Lane earned its name from a grass commonly known as Yorkshire Fog, which still grows throughout the park.
Over the months we will be posting a series of “History Spots” here, which will tell the history of the park in more detail. You can find the first History Spot here.
